East London Transit
East London Transit is Transport for London major new high quality bus service project to upgrade the public transport network between Ilford and Dagenham Dock Station via Barking Town Centre and from Barking Town Centre to Gallions Reach and is part of the Thames Gateway Transit network with construction expected to start early in 2007 with 4 million passengers expected to use the service in the first year of operation.
Further phases of ELT could be extended to serve destinations such as the proposed Barking Riverside development, Rainham, Barkingside, Harold Hill, Romford and Collier Row.
